Books, annual reports, conference brochures and business promotions are all improved when we combine editorial and design skills. Making content more comprehensible is the goal of all our design work-building credibility and confidence into the bones of every project. That's only the first part. Building an identity program envisions all possible uses and platforms and requires creating a unified style guide. We still love print! We have built more than 100 magazines for publishers, associations and businesses.
Services
Since its founding by Robert Sugar in 1981, the firm has designed more than 100 publications and created more than 160 identity and promotional campaigns for a variety of association, publishing and corporate clients. The studio philosophy is simple. Close collaboration with clients in an exciting and enjoyable working process will result in a superior product.
We have been and always will be magazine designers. It is what we love to do-engage in a thorough reworking of a title, and then continue our work by producing every issue. Use design to curate content and promote engaged readership. We know how to design publications that improve the creativity of your entire staff because we have contracted with over thirty publishers to produce their magazines-many after working through our redesign process. That is why our average redesign lasts eight years and 11 of our last 15 designs are still in use.
Building a graphic identity starts with loose experimentation and ends with tight implementation. We don't stop until everyone is satisfied. Making a logo involves multiple disciplines-art and business history, typography, iconography, contemporary trend analysis-and soft skills like presentation, patience and really listening.
That demands understanding the ideas in the first place. Use a designer with strong editorial skills and the result is a always a better piece. Every project has three design goals: increasing comprehension to improve understanding, enhancing credibility for better retention of content, and creating joy because, well, people will like it.
