Know this centre very well as I have had regular skin assessments here for many years. Damaged skin from a Northern Victorian childhood spent outdoors under the blazing sun with olive oil lavished on skin to promote 'tanning'! Decades later, legacy has been regular appearance of skin cancers. Probably had close to 20 BCCs and SCCs removed here over a number of years.

All staff are always very welcoming and highly professional. Sets the standard for quality medical treatment of skin cancers, for follow up and personal attention to clients.

My experience at the Skin Health Institute has been unreservedly positive. From the admin staff, who raise the bar on customer service, to the clinical and surgical staff, who bring professional excellence and unstinting care to a difficult situation (complex skin cancers), I couldn't have asked for more care and consideration, and the after-care is equally splendid. I know this is a fairly glowing recommendation, but once you have been here your expectations rise. They leave nothing to chance.

Have been going to the SKI (formerly Skin & Cancer Foundation) for more than 10 years for regular checks and extractions. While it used to be a useful "one stop shop" it is now an overly expense poor service, with poor administrative practices. - review is often rushed with little regard for your record - pathology expenses vary widely and the onus is on the customer to ask during an appointment before a biopsy is taken. - despite the high cost you will be treated by a registrar trainee who will seek advice from a supervising dermatologist who will talk to them like you are not even there.

Many senior practitioners have clearly had no patient/ customer training. - you will get better holistic management of skin cancers from a regular dermatologist or through the public health system. update: 7 march 2022 I have been contacted by the SHI seeking clarification of my feedback. Their liaison officer has assured me they have taken the feedback seriously and are working to improve services.

I've been attending this clinic for close to a decade. I am moving on! I can not remember a time where I didnt wait over an hour, sometimes two. The back and forth of the registrar to the qualified doctors just adds more time to your appointment too! They dont seem to even care that you've been waiting hours either. There is no clear information on what charges are additional to your appoinment and prices soar each time I attend. I'll be happy to never go here again.

They performed work on me that was incredible and fixed up previous elsewhere disasters. The staff are really nice and competant. My confidence in the medical profession has taken a new very positive turn. They are a hidden gem in the industry.

Waited 3 months in hope of finally receiving the long awaited help desperately needed only to be provided the same treatment regime that was previously trialled and exhausted. The solution offered to repeat failed treatments was evident that they do not listen and acknowledge the facts conveyed. My personal shared experiences were not taken seriously. Felt dismissed and undermined.

The extent of the condition and the complications that are beiny witnessed were underestimated. Somehow they think its acceptable for a patient to wait 1-2 months between consultions meanwhile their condition is continuing to deteriorate. Left in shock and disbelief.

Wouldn't recommend Dr Anthony hall (the dermatologist). My session with him was rushed, dismissive and uncaring. Twice he told me to stop when i explained to him regarding my ongoing struggle with genital itch and how it was triggered from the scar from severely burnt by liquid nitrogen 2+ yrs ago. A good caring doctor will listen and use his knowledge to help.

But not this dermatologist. He has no interest to listen, just dismiss and deny and walked out in 10 mins out of 45 mins session. I felt disgusted that i even shaked his hand when he gave me a handshake for not helping at all and i had to pay full amount which is $300+ and walked out feeling loss and helpless. I still struggle with genital itch and hard to find good doctors in australia given my circumstance was caused by another practitioner.

Skin health institute did give me a call to apologise but somehow didn't receive any email from them regarding how they can let this doctor knows and help improve their service to other patients.

Most unsatisfying & disappointing experience today. My visit felt [and was] hurried, dismissive, part of a conveyor belt approach to medical specialty, & strongly resembling a waste of time & money. Perhaps the business could recognise that a consultant's cursory glances & dismissive responses do not constitute reasonable specialist care - more focus on the medicine than the patient churn through could help, I guess.

The receptionist with whom I dealt at the payment stage, who was personable, had difficulties reading or following the doctor's instructions on the piece of paper given to me to give to the receptionist so that the receptionist may schedule further appointment/s & so that I could pay for my consultation. Well, the billing part of the note apparently was clear; not so much the care bit.

Far too much room for error - all round. I'm not keen to return to submit to the sausage factory approach to specialist medical care. I understand the Skin Health Institute is running a business & likely sees lots of pesky patients in a day and very serious cancers & other afflictions, and my issue was not important to it, but I'd have appreciated a bit more of the actual specialty skill for which I'd presented. On the bright side, the nurse who attended to me was very good, considerate & thorough. THANK YOU, to that nurse.

NOT FOR PROFIT SKIN CANCER SPECIALIST SERVICE IN MELBOURNE Sadly my anglo-celtic skin wasn't evolved for the Australian sun so I found myself with a small superficial skin cancer. My dermatologist referred me to the Skin and Cancer Foundation, located in Drummond St Carlton. Its a very comprehensive centre with day patient beds and some highly specialised services.

It is a MOHS accredited centre. Staff were very friendly and thorough in listening to my history and concerns. The facility is very modern and is readily accessible from public transport.

Throughout my years going to S&CF, the staff are not only the best professionals in Victoria, they really do care about you and you will get the best treatment in concierge style. Lovely staff! Please consider making a one time or monthly donation - we really need them around! :
